Species-Aware Care Tips

When a lead mentions an oak removal or a customer has a documented maple on their property, AI-generated emails now include specific, accurate care tips for that species — not boilerplate “tree maintenance advice.”

A follow-up email for a customer who had their white oak trimmed might now include:

“White oaks are best pruned in late winter before bud break — ideally February through March. Avoid pruning during warm weather to limit oak wilt exposure.”

Dynamic Seasonal Context

Emails now detect the current month and include regionally relevant seasonal guidance — spring fertilization windows, dormant pruning reminders, storm prep checklists.

Whale Hunter Tone 🐋

High-value commercial prospects (flagged by our commercial signal detector) now receive follow-up emails with a direct, high-urgency tone optimized to land meetings with property managers and HOA decision-makers — not the friendly residential tone that’s perfect for homeowners but falls flat with procurement.

Who gets it

Species-aware tips and seasonal context are available on all plans. The Whale Hunter tone is triggered automatically on Growth+ and Pro plans when our commercial signal score exceeds the threshold.

Why we changed it

Flat pricing created a cliff: a solo arborist with 80 leads and a 10-truck operation with 2,000 leads paid the same $49. That’s not fair. Banded pricing means ArborBuddy is a better deal when you’re small, and still reasonable when you’ve scaled.

Security Hardening for Beta

Before opening ArborBuddy to the public, we completed a full security audit. Rate limiting, schema validation, and webhook verification are now locked down at the edge.

What hardened

This release focused on defense-in-depth at the API edge.

Public Endpoint Rate Limiting

Quote form submissions (/quote/:slug) and referral conversions are now protected by Cloudflare edge rate limiting — 10 requests per minute per IP. This prevents lead-spam bots from flooding arborist inboxes with fake requests.

Schema Name Validation

All tenant database operations now pass through a strict allowlist validator before executing. This closes a theoretical attack vector where a corrupted database row could influence query structure.

Webhook Verification

  • Stripe: All webhook events are verified via HMAC-SHA256 with a 5-minute timestamp tolerance
  • WorkOS: All auth events are verified via the WorkOS SDK signature check with 180-second tolerance

Unused Service Removal

The legacy remote-mcp-server-authless service — an unauthenticated debug endpoint — has been permanently removed from the codebase.

These changes required no action from existing users. All protections are active at the Cloudflare edge layer.

Micro-Neighborhood Land Grab

After you mark a job as won, ArborBuddy automatically finds every other property within a 0.5-mile radius that you’ve ever quoted or worked on. With one click, you get:

  • A ready-to-post Nextdoor caption — hyper-local, mentions the street or neighborhood, and written by AI with your company name baked in.
  • A print-ready door-hanger — clean, professional PDF designed for letterbox drops on the same block.

Social Proof Pages

Upload a before-and-after photo pair from any job and ArborBuddy generates a public proof page at a unique URL you can share anywhere — SMS, Nextdoor, Instagram, or a QR code on your truck. The AI detects the tree species from the photo and writes a compelling transformation headline automatically.

Create a personal referral link for any customer. When a neighbor clicks it and submits a quote request, you know exactly who sent them — and you can reward your best advocates automatically.

Why it matters
